This week has been the single best week yet for roller derby on the Outer Banks, and it is only Tuesday! As such, we would like to give a huge shout out to our fans, our derby girls, and Seaside Vacations!!
The roller derby league has been in the works for over a year now and I have to say the ball is finally rolling [pardon my pun]. This weekend Outer Banks Roller Derby became the Kill Devil Derby Brigade and got pumped up to skate in the Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday. Less than 24 hours later we were honored by a blog from fellow locals Seaside Vacations – a blog that sent our site views through the roof and directed hoards of fans to our Facebook Fan Page. In light of this influx of fans, we in the 252 have to honor our 252nd fan – Chelsey Caffery!
Our girls have been through a lot just to get this league off the ground and I am proud of each and every one of them. They have skated in the heat, the cold, the wind, the impending rain, at dawn, at sunset, in sickness and in health – all unprotected in an outdoor rink. These ladies are the most amazing I have ever known and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for the Outer Banks!
Thank you for supporting your local derby! We will make you proud!
